GM decided the airbox cover on V6 S10s and Blazers needed to say “V6 Vortec” to brag about their fancy pants vortex-making head design.

I decided the lettering needed to be red, because why not?

Kinja'd!!!

Not that anyone is really gonna see it since it lives under the hood, but I was bored and had red spray paint and this cover I’m waiting for the parts store to get the connection hose to install instead of the “cold” air intake in there now.

Taping around those letters was a tedious and annoying job that even an x-acto knife couldn’t make easier.

Taping around all those letters sounds miserable. I would have painted that whole area red with lots of thick coats, let it dry, then paint it back to black, then just sand the black off of the top of the letters so they’re red again. Or use a foam brush and some liquid paint.

If we would’ve had liquid red paint I’d have totally done it with a brush because cleanly cutting tape around there could be a form of government torture.

Every time you mess up the whole thing is ripped off and you have to start over.

I don’t have the patience for stuff like that.
